Sylvia M. Donado, PMP, CSM

Prior to starting SMDC Training and Consulting, LLC Sylvia Donado has worked in project management and project controls for nearly 20 years with experience primarily in the construction and engineering industry including projects for PG&E, Entergy, The US Dept. of Energy Strategic Petroleum Reserve, US Dept. of Veteran Affairs, USACE, Valero Refinery, The School Board of Broward County, The City of Baton Rouge, and The University of Miami. Her first technical paper "The Habits of Highly Effective Scheduling" was published by The Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International in 2019.  She received her BA in 2003 from Columbia College Chicago with an Interior Architecture concentration beginning her career in hospitality design. She became involved with PMI in 2009 after moving to New Orleans and received her PMP certification in 2018.  For the PMI GNO chapter she has served as President in 2018 and 2020 as well as  VP of Membership from 2014 - 2016. She has also volunteered for PMI Leadership Meetings and Global Congresses since 2012 - 2017. She was also previously the secretary/treasurer for the Construction Management Association, S. Florida Chapter.  A native of Chicago, she is fluent in Spanish and in her spare time likes dancing, drawing/painting, writing poetry, smoking a good cigar, reading a good book, and cuddling with her fur baby Puff.
